Symphonious Swelling of Spores is a visualization of pollen count data from March 1, 2008 to March 31, 2008. The data was taken from records on the Atlanta Allergy website, and there are four different levels of pollen. On days with the least amount of pollen, there are only a few pollen grains floating in the air and only one person is sneezing. On days with the most amount of pollen, everyone is sneezing, and there are lots of pollen spores floating around the stage.

One issue with the data is that there was no pollen data recorded on Saturdays and Sundays. In response, the performers close their curtains, as if they are not working on the weekend.

When I started researching and gathering ideas for this project, I was influenced by the detailed images I found of individual pollen spores. From there, I found some beautifully detailed images of Victorian paper dolls, and decided to let this be my inspiration for the rest of the aesthetics in the piece.
